NYE Rumpus Room

We tuned in to hear Justin Roberts for the New Years' Eve countdown. What fun! He played "Cartwheels and Somersaults" which always makes me think of Zooglobble. And some songs that I hadn't heard before. But we didn't catch the whole thing. Maybe at 11pm we'll be able to listen better.

Listening to XM yesterday, they played an alphabet song sung by Justin that I really liked. I wonder if it is on some CD?

Rumpus Room Playlist:
  • Airplane of Food
  • Imaginary Rhino
  • I Chalk
  • Billy the Bully
  • Way Out
  • Taking Off My Training Wheels
  • Dad Caught Stars
  • Cartwheels and Somersaults
  • Hey Hippopotamus

    Hippos?

There are quite a number of "large mammal" songs out there for kids... In fact the other night we heard a kid on XMKids talking about getting to close to a rhino -- while we would have played "It's a No-No to Kiss a Rhino" from Roger Day, after the discussion the track played was "Imaginary Rhino" from Justin Roberts.

Ralph's World has a great song about wanting an elephant for Christmas, but until Holly Jolly is released, only a few fans will know that great song.

Getting back to the point -- ScribbleMonster did a great cover of "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" which has done well on XMKids. We can't wait to hear more from ScribbleMonster!

    XMKids

For Christmas, we upgraded from XM Online to a real XM subscription. As we've been listening more and more, I have very mixed feelings about XMKids.

I am going to guess that there are just a handful or two of kids in the country who know a wider set of kids' music than my kids. That's not a competitive statement, just a comment about how we are more than your average kindie rock fans.

I just listened to the top 13 (okay, enough of the donkey song) and am so excited that the Ralph's World Rumpus Room show is on, a year after it's debut!
